Freelance Senior Mobile developer

I'm easy to place in a team. I ask questions early, I say what I think when a plan has a weak spot, and I keep the tone constructive while doing it. Writing clearly matters as much to me as writing code. I explain technical trade offs in a way that designers, product owners and stakeholders can act on, and I document decisions so the reasoning survives after I leave. I enjoy helping other developers get better, through code review and by pairing when something is tricky. I work independently and take ownership of what I pick up, but I check in often enough that nobody is surprised by where things stand.

I'm a freelance mobile developer with more than twelve years of experience, based in Meppel and working for clients across the Netherlands. Most of my work is iOS, and I've spent a good part of my career on apps that a lot of people depend on every day. I worked on the Rabobank and OHRA apps, on NPO and NPO Luister (including CarPlay, widgets and accessibility), and I currently build the SwiftUI design system at Action. That mix has given me a feel for both sides of the job: the careful, well-tested work that regulated environments ask for, and the pace a product team needs to keep shipping. What I like most is the part between design and code. Turning a set of screens into components that hold up across an entire app, making sure the result works for someone using VoiceOver or a large text size, and leaving a codebase that the next developer can actually work in. I'm equally comfortable starting something from scratch and stepping into an existing project with years of history behind it. In practice that often means Swift and SwiftUI alongside UIKit and the occasional Objective-C file, and figuring out how to move forward without a rewrite. I work remotely for the most part, with regular time on site when a team benefits from it.
